Optibus says Daniels’ understanding of “the complex inner and outer workings of city-wide mobility” will aid its work to develop and deploy advanced optimisation algorithms and AI which can help save transit operators money and improve on-time performance.
Work in progress – As transportation changes, so will job opportunities in transportation: In transportation, data from vehicles and environmental sensors will be the new fuel. Data scientists will therefore be in high demand, according to Amos Haggiag, co-founder and CEO of Optibus, which supplies artificial intelligence to mass transit operators
The innovation in digital technologies are transforming vehicles and how we interact with them, they are also informing innovation in transport systems. New technologies, are being implanted in streets, parking, tolls, roads, bridges etc, making them readily available to communicate with each other and with the vehicles that use them.
Scheduling is a bit like magic: the public sees a timetable; the staff get their instructions. It takes place behind the scenes and has been a dark art for ages. Schedules are tricky and getting them optimized is trickier. I think most people aren’t aware that the technology to create schedules hasn’t come of age…
